Home Direct Sales v1 - Intro

Planet Perk News
Planet Perk offers an event we refer to as the Monday Night Alternative. It is an event where we open our doors for private parties hosted by the many men and women who have a direct home sales business. It is our desire to support the goals and aspirations of our customers and this is one way that we do it.

So far our shop has been the host location for Pampered Chef, Tasetdully Simple, Lia Sophia, Park Lane and yes - even Passion parties. These events enabel sales reps to host parties in the event that their intended host cannot have such an event in their home. The advantage of having such an event at Planet Perk is that you don't have to clean your house, have strangers in your bathroom, interrupt Monday Night Football, or even shovel your own walk. We also have plenty of parking and refreshments.

Planet Perk does not charge any rental fee and only asks that sales reps and hosts pay for food that they order. We place posters in our shop, print Planet Perk coupons for incenting people to place order the day of the event, and we post information about their bsuinesses on our website.

This blog will promote the Monday Night Alternative and provide sales, marketing, and promotion tips to other direct home sales people. We hope this helps people earn a little extra money, have a little fun, and if all else goes well quit their day job.

Planet Perk News
In this blog we will share the list of lists. Our staff, as young and hip as they are compared to me, will share their recommendations on books, movies, music and more. While I pride myself of being a person of good taste, I am willing to concede that I may be out of touch with the times. However, staff tends to fill in the gaps and also uncovers some things you or might not think of.

Planet Perk News
As the New Year approaches I find myself preparing to make yet another set of resolutions to get healthlier, wealthier and just a be a better me. Mostly that means being a better husband and father. However, I have come to realize tha part of being a better father and husband is being healthy.

As many of my regular customers, friends and family may be aware I am no stranger to a fork. I like to cook and I absolutely like to eat. At 43 though I have to start making better choices about food and find time for exercise. The better food choices in include the Perk Menu..Although much of the Planet Perk is organic and healthy it does have it's fair share of indulgences. However, it is possible to eat very healthy and presumabley lose weight in the process. For example, fewer sausage Panini's and more fruit, yogurt, oatmeal, and granola elections for breakfast. For lunch, more salads and wraps instead of whole French Dip's. I'm not giving up the caramel latte's though. I'll just get smaller ones, with non-fat milk.

Let's see what the new year brings. I'll keep you posted on my menus, diet tips, and exercise regimine at U-Fit and the Y. Maybe there will be something you can find useful in the daily postings.

Planet Perk News
At Planet Perk we are constantly trying out new recipes. Some are good and some are just sort of OK. Some make for good restraunt offerings and others tend be better suited for special occasion home cooking. In this blog we will attempt to share the best of what we see in our own kitchen and the recipes that our customers share with us. We will also share cooking tips, short cuts, ingregient subsitution ideas and anything else we think you might want to know.

Unfortunatley, there are just some recipes that will remain trade secrets at Planet Perk. We cant give away they keys to the kingdom afterall.
Environment v1 - Introduction

Planet Perk News
By definition, locally owned coffee shops tend to be owned and frequented by people who are concerned about the environement. Liberal, conservative, or politicaly agnostic people of al stripes do have some level of interest in doing what is responsbile and sustainable.

We at Planet Perk are no different. We try to do what is right for the environment, but like most others struggle with finding things we can do that are simple, affordable, and sustainable. Since I took ownership of the store in May of 2008 I have done a lot of research, received friendly advice from my customers, and come across some helpful information about what anyone can do to be a better citezen when it comes to the environment. The intent of this blog going forward is to share this information with the public so that they can, if they choose, incorporate some of what Planet Perk does in their daily routine.
Downtown Oshkosh v1 - Inaugural

Planet Perk News
Ever since the economy started to show signs of weakening, I have many people express their concerns about the downtown area of Oshkosh. The comments usually seam to express the overal wish for our downtown and Oshkosh to thrive economicaly. As a downtown business owner I appreciate the sentiment. I just wish that the citezens of Oshkosh exercised their economic power to go along with that sentiment.

As much as people say they want a vibrant and vital community, I am shocked at how many people expect such an outcome when nearly or all of their money is spent on the frontage road in non-locally owned stores and restraunts or worse up in Appleton. As hard as it is to believe I think this phenomena is primarily and issue of awarness of what our city and its business owners have to offer. Especially our downtown.

Our city is one of the best kept secrets in the valley and perhaps the most taken forgranted by its own citizens. Entrepraneurs are what is keeping the cities economic engine running. That combined with the wonderful community assets we have means Oshkosh has the potential to be a great city in Wisconsin. Just think about the cities that wish they had a park system like ours let alone Menominee and South Park. Public pools, golf courses, museums, and a first class library are also gems to be envied by other communities seen by our own citizens as having greener grass. We also have the Grand, the Leach Ampetheater, UWO, and EAA. We have events like Country USA, Airventure, Festival of Lights, Sawdust Days and a wide range of downtown events to numerous to mention.

We also have the best cafés in the region. Planet Perk, New Moon and Peloras. Each locally owned an operated unlike Starbucks which are corporately owned. Oshkosh cafes sell better coffee at a cheaper price and we, unlike Starbucks offer broader menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Each locally owned café also offers a unique setting that suits a variety of tastes. In addition, we support local charities, participate in local events like Gallery Walk, and sponsor youth programs such as YMCA, OYB and OYS.

In this blog I will take it upon myself to be a ardent and shameless promoter of downtown Oshkosh and all that it offers. I think its about time we beat our chest when it comes to our city. Afterall, there are thousands of people who make this a great place to live everyday.
